Amateur Radio Packet Systems and Skywarn

Omaha / Valley Nebraska

Our NWS office (Omaha/Valley NE) has a packet station along with the standard FM voice equipment. I'm checking out the possibility of using packet to distribute watches, warnings, and RCMs to the local area.

However, our packet computer is (right now) just a 286. I believe we can hook a serial line to it that will have the various teletype products on it, but that's still to be worked out. Does anyone out there have any software (or ideas) on how to automatically send out certain bulletins soon after they come off the wire? Another problem I see is putting the incoming data into some sort of parser so individual bulletins are broken out into separate files. I'm considering writing a small TPK server to do the sending if I can't find anything else.

Any ideas, stories, etc. are appreciated.
