Net Status Color Code Meaning
The Net Status Color Code is determined automatically by a program that is monitoring the
National Weather Service's RSS feeds and the Hazardous Weather Outlook. If there are no watches
or warnings in any *Primary county and the Hazardous Weather Outlook
is not specifying that spotter activation "may be" or "will be" required, the Net Status Color Code
will be
"White : Net NOT Activated, no severe weather is anticipated. SleepTime 3600 Seconds"
If there are no watches or warnings in any *Primary county, but the
Hazardous Weather Outlook indicates that spotter activation "may be" or "will be" required, the
Net Status Color Code will be changed to
"Blue : Net NOT Activated, threat of
severe weather is recognized. SleepTime : 1200 Seconds"
If weather watches (severe thunderstorm, or tornado) have been
issued for a *Primary county the Net Status Color Code will be changed to
"Green : Net Activation Possible, weather watches have been issued. Sleep Time : 600 Seconds"
If weather
watches have been issued for a *Primary county AND a warning has been issued
for a **Secondary county the Net Status Color Code will be changed to
"Yellow : Net Activation Likely, severe weather developing. SleepTime : 300 Seconds"
If a warning (severe thunderstorm or tornado) is issued for a Primary county*
the Net Status Color Code will NOT automatically be changed to
"RED : NET ACTIVATED, WARNINGS ISSUED. SleepTime : 300 Seconds"
because it cannot determine if a Net
has truly been activated. The program knows that a warning has been issued, but cannot determine if a Net
has been activated. The Net Status Color Code can only be changed to red manually.
*Primary Counties :
In Minnesota : Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, Sherburne, Washington and Wright.
In Wisconsin : Pierce, Polk and Saint Croix.
**Secondary Counties : (all in Minnesota)
