Net Status Color Codes
The Net Status Color Code is used to easily obtain the status of a pending net activation. The status is set automatically by software that monitors NWS data. Click Reload in your browser to ensure you see the most current status.
No matter what the Net Status graphic is indicating, the information gathered and presented here may NOT be accurate. You MUST use your own judgement to determine your best course of action in any given circumstance!
If there are no watches or warnings in any *Primary county and the Hazardous Weather Outlook is not specifying that spotter activation "may be" or "will be" required, the Net Status Color Code will be
Net NOT Activated, no severe weather is anticipated.
If there are no watches or warnings in any *Primary county, but the Hazardous Weather Outlook indicates that spotter activation "may be" or "will be" required, the Net Status Color Code will be changed to
Net NOT Activated, threat of severe weather is recognized.
If weather watches (severe thunderstorm, or tornado) have been issued for a *Primary county the Net Status Color Code will be changed to
Net Activation Possible, weather watches have been issued.
If weather watches have been issued for a *Primary county AND a warning has been issued for a **Secondary county the Net Status Color Code will be changed to
Net Activation Likely, severe weather developing.
If a warning (severe thunderstorm or tornado) is issued for a *Primary county the Net Status Color Code will be changed to
NET ACTIVATED or HIGHLY LIKELY, WARNINGS ISSUED.
We assume that if a Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning has been issued for a *Primary county that the Net has been or will soon be activated. This may not always be the case, but we will assume it. In any case, if the Net Status is RED, you are advised to seek shelter and monitor your National Weather Service radio, local radio stations or television coverage for further information.
*Primary Counties :
Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, Sherburne, Washington and Wright.
**Secondary Counties :
Benton, Stearns, Meeker, McLeod, Sibley and LeSeur.
